| September 4, 2007 14:40 - Our Favs! Favorite gifts, prizes and favor ideas
Below are some extra cute ideas for thinking outside of the "Box"!
First of all, I found the cutest craft magazine called Paper Crafts. They go above and beyond basic scrapbooking, taking paper crafts to a whole new level! They have great ideas for making cute containers for favors and prizes and also cute gift ideas. I get the magazine sent to my house every month and I literally read it over and over again. It is awesome!
I know this is a dog treat can, but it can easily be adapted to be a "baby themed" can. Simply take a paint can (found at hardware stores, or craft stores) and adhere cute scrapbook paper around it. Add embellishments such as little baby charms found at craft stores. Attach a cute tag saying "Thank You For Coming" and then the baby shower date, and general information. Fill the can with candies, a candle, soaps, or a cellophane wrapped sugar cookie! So cute! Guests will love your creativity.
You could also take this same idea and use it to decorate metal tins (such as band-aid tins), cardboard boxes, plastic Chinese take-out containers (craft stores sell these) - Instead of covering in paper, just add cute embellishments and a tag. You can even cut paper towel rolls in half, fill with candies, and wrap in cute paper. Tie ends off with ribbon and add a cute tag.
For a clever little gift for the mom-to-be, see the idea below:

Fill a decorated box with soothing items such as tea bags, bath salts, a relaxing CD, a good book, etc.
Tip: If you don't have a crafty bone in your body, find a friend or relative of the mom-to-be that does, and delegate this task.
One more tip...an absolutely great place to get scrapbooking items such as paper, embellishments, stickers, etc is at
Fun Expressions-Oriental Trading Scrapbooking . Their prices are wonderful and they are really reliable!

September 19, 2007 19:58 - Lil' Pumpkin Baby Shower

Looking for a baby shower with a Halloween Theme?
Throw a lil' pumpkin baby shower!
For decorations, have mini pumpkins, gourds and indian corn in baskets.
Serve caramel apples. Spice them up by adding mini M&M's, nuts or candy corn.
Fill clear vases and empty baby food jars with candy corn and top with a tea lite.
Take a fat pillar candle and wrap Halloween-themed scrapbook paper around it (leaving about 1/2 inch on top and bottom) adhere with glue and give as favors or prizes.
For favors, bake sugar cookies and cut them into pumpkin shapes. Frost with bright orange frosting and wrap in cellophane. Tie with a cute ribbon and attach a tag with all of the shower details.
To go a step further, print out the cookie recipe, glue it to cute Halloween paper and attach it to the cello.
For a cute witches hat, take a cone-shaped kids party hat, cover it with black paper, cut a large circle out of black cardstock - make it larger than the base of the hat. Glue the circle to the bottom of the hat to make the brim.
Decorate with glitter and stars.
Serve popcorn balls, orange and black jelly beans, and Halloween M&M's.
For a centerpiece idea, buy a large plastic pumpkin trick or treat container and fill it with baby gear such as booties, rattles, onesies, toys, etc.
Chocolate Pumpkin Fondue Pot
Cut a hole in the top of a pumpkin so a small bowl can fit into it. Pour melted chocolate into the bowl and have guests dip marshmallows, pound cake and strawberries.

September 28, 2007 19:51 - Baby Shower Traditions
I recently read about about this great baby shower idea where you place one candle per guest on the cake and each guest lights a candle as they say a wish for the new baby. Or, guests can offer words of wisdom/advice for the new mommy. Then when everyone had spoken, the mom-to-be blows out the candles!
Another idea is to get a giant plastic baby bottle and have everyone at the baby shower write down their best baby advice and tips and place them in the bottle. Guests can put in as many tips as they'd like. This is a great gift for the mom to take home and read.
