Baby Diva Cake
The theme of the shower was (lights, camera, action) - that gave me the inspiration for this cake. I wanted to have all of the elements of the theme incorporated in the design. The cake is a two layered full sheet,which is the body and a half a ball cake (Wilton ball pan)which is the head. The cake was curved, iced and covered with fondant. The baby is on her tummy with her head turned to the side. She is wearing silver shaded glasses with silver stars on the ends (which represents the lights)the glasses are made from gum paste (mold). At the top left of the cake is a 3D camera(mold) made from pastilliage and painted black with silver luster(camera is out of frame). The baby diva is wearing a pink ruffled outfit and holding a bottle with a little pearl luster brush on it (made from gumpaste) in her mouth, a yellow blanket made from fondant is under her. The back panel on her outfit is left open exposing her blushing cheeks(bottom made from 2 ball pans)which is the (action). The silver buttons on her panel are fondant rolled into little balls and the flattened to look like snaps, then painted with silver luster(FDA approved). To the right side of the baby is a small rocking horse and rattle made from gum paste (not completely out of frame). The legs and shoes were made from fondant (out of frame,sorry). Needless to say LIL MISS DIVA stole the show, as all stars do. cake by: Monniemon
