Baby Girl Cake

Baby Girl Cake

This sweet little baby girl cake was my own take on several "baby" cakes I have seen.

Ingredients Needed:

4 boxes of yellow cake mix
1 pkg white fondant
3 cups homemade butter cream icing
1/2 cup strawberry jam

I made two 8" and two 10" round cakes.

I used the strawberry jam between the layers.

Then I added "flesh" food coloring to the fondant & kneaded it in.

I then cut a circle for the baby face and a half circle for the baby's upper body.

I used the white icing for the "diaper". I finished the sides of the cake not covered with fondant with the remaining white icing.

Then cut out 2 footies with the fondant.

I added fondant ears ( I used toothpicks to attach the ears to the head) , belly button and nose. I used a gel icing for the baby's eyes and mouth. Added a bow and writing.

I draped some tulle around the cake for further decoration.
