Baby Sneakers Cake

Baby Sneakers Cake

Baby Sneakers Cake

Baby Sneakers Cake Instructions...

I made this shower cake from 2 layers of french vanilla 11x15 sheet cakes.

It was iced in cheesecake buttercream, and filled with chocolate almond buttercream.

I made the onesie out of fondant, and used small fondant circles painted with silver luster dust to make the closures.

The edible image that I added is from a picture of the nightlight on the baby registry. I added the words "I Love Mommy" to personalize it.

The sneakers are made of fondant using a template for baby Converse sneakers. I added texture to them by rolling the fondant out under a tea towel. The laces are satin ribbon.

The bottle is made of white chocolate using a life size 4 oz mold. The satin ribbon along the bottom of the cake is the same used to trim the cake board.

onesie sign-in
by: Marybeth

I am having a onesie theme to a shower. I have a 12 month size onesie, slipped cardboard inside, got fabric markers, and will have the guests sign in on the onesie. The baby can be wrapped in love.

Thank You!

I found a picture of the onesie online and enlarged it to use as a template. I cut it out of fondant, and used the wilton fondant cutter wheel to add the details. I put an edible image on for the design. For the snaps I cut out 3 rings using tip 10, the large end and then the small end for the inner circle. I let them dry and painted with luster dust mixed with lemon extract. Hope this helps!

Your cake is gorgeous and the details you included (the baby converse and neckline on the onesie)make it almost too perfect to eat!

Can't wait to see more of your work!

Fabulous cake
by: Anonymous

Wow, the shoes look so realistic.... I used to make chocolate molds myself for years and can appreciate the work that went into that bottle. As far as the flavor, the french vanilla with cheesecake butter cream sounds heavenly and adding that to the chocolate filling sends it over the top. Bet the Mom-to-be loved every mouthful!!

by: Nancy

I really like the cake and I am trying to find the pattern for the baby sneakers. I was wondering where you found the pattern. I have to make a cake for my new grandson and they would be so great. Thanks
