Ducky Diaper Cake

Ducky Diaper Cake

Ducky Diaper Cake

Ducky Diaper Cake Instructions

My mom used 112 regular disposable diapers, she tied each one, then wrapped them around empty toilet paper rolls. It was 3 tiers. She used fake flowers, ribbon, she had stuff animals (ducks), pacifiers. It was truly the talk of the baby shower, but yet so was the shower. It was truly the best shower ever.

I am very lucky to have such a wonderful mother to do this for me and my son.And also lucky to have those 112 diapers also....

The Rubber Ducky Diaper Cake

The Rubber Ducky Diaper Cake

The Rubber Ducky Diaper Cake

The Rubber Ducky Diaper Cake

This bright and cheery Rubber Ducky Diaper Cake was so much fun to make!

The bottom tier is made from diapers - for the middle you can use a bottle of champagne! I love this idea because the whole diaper cake is made using needed supplies and then when they start unwrapping and dissembling the cake, the parents find a festive bottle of champagne to celebrate the arrival of their new little baby!

For the middle tier you can roll receiving blankets or baby towels - this is a great alternative to using diapers and gives the diaper cake a taller appearance and a unique look.

For the top tier you can use diapers or baby washcloths.

Secure each tier with a cute ribbon and add other decorations and necessities such as flowers, baby socks, rattles, bottles, bibs - and of course and adorably plush and squishy bright yellow ducky!

Rubber Ducky Diaper cake

by Amy Carter
(Laporte, TX)

rubber ducky 3 tiered diaper cake

rubber ducky 3 tiered diaper cake

This rubber ducky Diaper Cake is a 3 tiered stack of diapers, I used 2 size diapers larger ones in bottom layer and smaller (NB) on the top two layers.

I rolled each diaper into cylinder shape and secured with rubber bands, then I placed a bottle in the center and attached each diaper into a larger rubber band that would hold all.The layers are held together with the bottles in the middle
I put coordinating ribbon around each layer and added a bow to add the finishing touch

Then I added rattles, minis, shampoo, lotion and powder, wash rags, and many other things to decorate

I will place it on a cake plate to display at the baby shower.

Baby Ducky Diaper Cake

by Loretta
(Canada)

Baby Ducky Diaper Cake

Baby Ducky Diaper Cake

I made this Baby Ducky Diaper Cake for a friends baby shower

The supplies I used were 50 diapers, size 1 and then I included 20 practical baby items such as rattles, bibs, washcloths, teething rings, a baby brush, etc.

This is a 3 tier cake and each layer has fanned out diapers with receiving blankets around them to cover the diapers.

I when with the fanned diapers instead of rolled diapers because I like the smooth, finished look it gives the diaper cake.

Oh, and be sure to top with a cute stuffed animal such as a baby ducky!

rubber ducky cake for a boy

by Ranae S.
(FT. Belvoir , VA)

rubber ducky cake for a boy

rubber ducky cake for a boy

This was my first diaper cake so I am anxiously waiting to read any inputs.

My Cake ingredients:

Approx 110 size 1 diapers
1 8-9 oz bottle
1 4 oz bottle
8 wooden ducks (you can buy them pre painted of paint them your self)
2 rolls of blue ribbon of your choice
1 roll cute little ducky ribbon of your choice
1 roll small ribbon
4 med bath time rubber ducks
2 travel size variety pk of baby shampoo/lotion/wash/diaper cream
baby wash cloths, as many as you would like
hot glue
lots of rubber bands
fake flowers and fake pond leaves
1 round place mat

What I did:

I rolled all the diapers and secured them with a rubber band. Placed them around the large bottle for the bottom and middle layer and then the small bottle for the top layer. Used the ribbon to hide the rubber bands and placed decoration items around cake.

I placed the pond leaves and ducks on the top and finished it of with some white and yellow flowers. It was a big hit and I hope you enjoy the pictures.

Please let me know your thoughts. I have already finished my second one and I need your thoughts....do I keep my day job or do I have a little something going on here?? :-) Thanks for your input.

Rubber Ducky Diaper Cake

by Mary Lou
(Brookyn MI USA)

Rubber Ducky Diaper Cake

I bought a 72 pack of diapers...3 tiered cake...I played with the size until I liked it--so I would say it varies to your taste.(I had about 12 left over). I used newborn Pampers--but bigger sizes work too.

Open the individual diaper flat and roll from one end to the other--hold together with a rubber band..until all the diapers you want are rolled.(the newborn size was about the size of a hot dog)

When making the layers--put your diapers in a circle and hold the circle with a larger rubber band...I started with about 8 diapers--banded that bunch--and added more diapers around the outside until I got to a size that was pleasing to me.

I bought a variety of small baby gifts..wrist rattles, bottles, teething rings, wash clothes(I used these to cover the tops of the layers to make it look finished)...

I used a receiving blanket--folded to match the width of the bottom layer--wrapped it around the layer and pinned it with a couple of large brass pins(couldn't find diaper pins anywhere)--used 2" wide ribbon to complement the blanket and hot glued it to make it stay put.

2nd layer, obviously smaller--I made a small portable changing pad, that again, I folded to fit the width of the layer held in place with a large rubber band--until I could get a complementary ribbon on for stability.

3rd layer(top)--again smaller(approx 6-8 diapers) I made a burp cloth from a cloth diaper and trimmed it with bright bias tape. I folded the burp cloth to fit the width of the layer--I used a rubber band, again, to hold everything together until I could tie a ribbon to complete the layer--I made ribbon tails extra long to hang to the bottom of the 3 tiers.

I placed the small baby items around the cake as decoration.

I cut a 10" circle of cardboard--covered with pretty paper for the base. I used a 12" dowel to hold the 3 layers together--I ribbon tied a duck rattle to the top to cover the protruding dowel.

Ducky Baby Shower Diaper Cake

by Brittany
(Macon, Georgia)

Ducky Baby Shower Diaper Cake

Ducky Baby Shower Diaper Cake

Ducky Baby Shower Diaper Cake

Items I Used=
-Rubber bands
-2 packs of diapers (NB & 1)
-Rubber Ducks
-Travel Starter Kit
-2 Washcloths
-Different little decorations

I rolled up each diaper (starting with the front) and secured them with a rubber band.

I didn't use anything in the middle such as: bottles, blankets, clothes, etc. like many people do.

I had my sister hold the diapers in a bundle and I placed a large rubber band around each tier and added the necessary amount inside the large band. On the top tier, I rolled up 2 baby washcloths and put 1 on each side to bring out the blue.

To hide the rubber bands, I got 2 types of ribbon that went with the shower theme and taped them with clear tape around the cake.

NEVER USE HOT GLUE!!! The diapers tear when taken apart by the mother and it is impossible to get off clothes and wash clothes which could easily scratch the newborn I have learned that through personal experience.

Make sure you sit the cake on a piece of cardboard so it is easy to transport. I bought little decorations from a dollar store and placed them all around the cake. I hope you enjoy!
