Giraffe and Flowers Cake
You will need:
3-4 recipes buttercream icing
pink, lavender, green and yellow gel coloring
2-12" cakes of your choice
2-8" cakes of your choice
1 recipe white candy clay
rolling pin
sharp paring knife
14" plastic cake circle
10" plastic cake circle
plastic pillars
piping bags
Wilton tips # 5 and #21
one wooden giraffe (or other toy)
Tint the buttercream lavender, pale green, pink and yellow. Arrange the cakes on plastic cake circles. (I used a 10" scalloped for the top and a 14" scalloped for the bottom.
Frost the layer cakes using the lavender buttercream. Mark on the 12" cake where your pillars will be.
Place pillars in bottom cake. Pipe dots around bottom of pillars. Roll out the candy clay and cut out flower shapes.
Arrange flower shapes on the 12" cake. (Adhere to the sides using buttercream.)Using Wilton tip # 5, pipe dots of pink, yellow and green onto the 8" cake. Using the same tip, pipe the stems for the flowers in the green.
Using Wilton tip #21, pipe the swirls on the bottom edges of both the 12" and 8" cakes in the green buttercream. Arrange the cakes.
Place the giraffe on last. (I bought an unfinished wooden giraffe toy from a Michael's store and painted it myself using craft paint. It was a nice gift for mother to be to remember her cake by.) Enjoy!
