Jungle Theme Diaper Cake
by Terrie
(Grosse Ile Michigan)
Jungle diaper cake
For this 4 tier jungle Diaper Cake I used approximately 132 size 1 Pampers Swaddlers diapers which were rolled and banded with clear hair bands sold at Target. I used 2 - 8 ounce baby bottles in the center to hold the cake together and to start the tier. A foil wrapped cake board sold at Cake Decorating Shops was used for the bottom. I used a cake board that was 2 inches larger than the bottom layer so I could sit the larger items on the bottom. I used recieving blankets on 2 of the layers held together by a diaper pin, and the other 2 layers were wrapped in wide ribbon held together by double sticky sided tape.
All of the rattles, onsies etc are either attached to the cake with diaper pins, tucked into the diaper rings, or placed behind the decorative ribbon.
As a special gift for the Mom to be, I attached a Pandora Giraffe charm around the neck of the Stuffed Giraffe Musical box that is on top op the cake.
This was my first Diaper Cake and I couldn't be more pleased about the results. It was easy to make, rolling the diapers takes the most time and that was less than 30 minutes.

To achieve this look I used:
100 size 3 Pampers Cruisers disposable diapers. 1 large stuffed animal for the top-Monkey. 2 medium sized stuffed animals for the sides-Giraffe and Lion. Wooden animal figures from the craft store-I used Monkeys, Giraffes and Elephants. (Tigers and other animals are also available). Cake Dowels-4 thin wood ones and one white plastic one. Brown Gift wrap paper. Artificial Plant leaves/branches. Green paper (cut/shredded)from the craft store for the grass look. Posterboard-rectangular. Brown Ribbon that is wider than the light blue ribbon that is glued to its center. Glue gun, glue sticks, rubber bands and double sided tape. Light Blue Baby blanket. 3 travel size bottles each of baby lotion, baby oil, baby powder and baby shampoo, elephant shaped aspirator, 1 giraffe bib, one monkey bib, 4 pairs of baby socks, 4 washcloths, 1 caterpillar comb and brush set and a hooded monkey robe.
Fold diapers 2 @ a time and rubber banded each pair. Bottom row has about 60 diapers between the 3 columns. Middle row has about 28 diapers Top tier has about 12 diapers. Use a large rubber band to band together each entire row. Place the ribbon snugly around each row and glue using the glue gun and sticks. Glue wooden animals to ribbon. Stuff your presents in between the diapers and stack the diaper rows on top of one another. Place the thin wooden dowels through the top tier all the way through the bottom tier. (This will hold the tiers together). Wrap the white plastic dowel in brown wrapping paper and add leaves to top to make the tree. Use double sided tape to secure the blanket to poster board and animals and grass to blanketed poster board. This was a lot of fun to make!!!

That's not Tarzan! That's baby's squeals of delight at the sight of our Jungle Baby Cake!
Topping off this jungle cake is the plush tiger, Rajah Jr. from the Jeepers Peepers collection.
Jeepers Peepers is GUND's new line of plush characters with eyes that seem to follow you as they're turned! Further down is GUND's Magnitudes Elephant - the pefect pal for on the go fun.
The icing on this cake is GUND's Pippi the Monkey Comfy Cozy blanket measuring 24" x 24". These blankets are incredibly popular, providing "tummy time" exercise for smaller babies and a faithful cozy friend for older babies. 55 Stage One/Two diapers are bound in gorgeous 'fur' giraffe print ribbon and faux greenery adds that special jungle touch. Measurements: 12" x 12" x 18".

Jungle Island Diaper Cake

(Troutdale,Or.)
Jungle Island Diaper Cake
I made this Island of a diaper cake for my sisters friend.
I threw her baby shower and needed a centerpiece. It turned out much bigger than I intended. I used bottles for the core of the tree and onsies for the leaves.
I used a blue onsies for the waterfall. All the gift cards I used for prizes went with the theme of the games we played (ie.. Tinkle in the pot winner got a jamba juice gift card) and it was attached to an identical stuffed animal on the diaper cake.
This was my second diaper cake I had ever made.

130 Newborn Diapers Puppets Elephant stuffed animal baby lotion, shampoo, Q-tips, Desitin (diaper rash cream), rattle, etc. leaves Ribbon yarn
Rolled each diaper individually tied with white yarn, started out by standing diapers next to each other in circle tied together with white yarn, add more diapers until reached size that I wanted.
Did this for each layer. Once each layer was made wrapped with wide pink ribbon, and hot glued so would stay together.
Once all ribbon was added placed the baby lotion, shampoo, and body wash under the puppets and placed on the cake.
Place the leaves throughout the cake, and added the stuffed elephant around the top of the cake.

King of the jungle cake

King of the jungle cake
King of the jungle cake
This was my first diaper cake I made for my cousin's baby shower. I had never heard of them before as she is the first of our generation in our family to have a baby.
I searched online to look for ideas and found a few websites with different idea. The mother didn't want to know whether it was a boy or girl. So I made a gender neutral cake.
I bought used about 100 reusable diapers. I found a a lion head towel to be the center of the cake. I put a couple of bottles in the middle and the lion head on top I than rolled the diapers with small hair ties and put them around the bottles, lotion and lion's head.
I than covered the rubber bands with the ribbon and used the shredded green paper to portray grass and decorate the cake. I put pasifiers, socks, bibs and small stuffed animals all around the cake.
I finally put it all in a wicker basket. It was a lot of fun and turned out really cute.

Cute Giraffe Diaper Cake
I made this cake when I was 14!
This is a cute three tier cake, that I made in about 2 hours, from start to finish.
I used 70 diapers, and 4 onesies to build it. I also used various little travel size bottles, pacifiers and teethers.
The total cost was around $60.00 but it depends on what you buy, like name brand or not. It was easy and I had a blast doing it!

This jungle themed diaper cake is made up of 64 pcs of Pampers New Swaddlers diapers.
To hold the two bottom tiers together, i used a 9 oz baby bottle.
Then I used a rolled cardboard with two onesies inside to hold the middle and top tiers and used the excess cardboard sticking out as tree trunk.
I then used fake leaves to accentuate the tree trunk to make it look like a tree. I wrapped the tier of diapers with baby blankets with safety pins.
I used same pins to hold the toy giraffe in place. I placed brown confetti strips in between the tiers and added the final touches (J&J baby products, small jar of baby food)to complete this diaper cake.
