I've been invited to baby showers and when I click on the store registry, there is a field where the registrants (the parents) can leave comments. A comment I have seen: "Baby --- has been blessed! He (She) has more than enough to clothe him for his 1st year! Thank you for your generosity!"

I agree. Don't mention that you have enough clothing. If you get tons of clothes maybe try to return the items and get a store credit, sell the unneeded items on a website, or keep them for a future child.
Trust me, I am going through this now with relatives telling me what they are getting me and none of it is stuff I need or have registered for. I plan on taking my own advice and maybe selling it at an upcoming consignment sale here that we have.

You should simply people know where you are registered, and then you are happy with what you get and if you have enough--don't have another shower!
