Pink Diaper Cake

by Katherine McEachin
(Walden, NY)

Pink Diaper Cake

How to make a Diaper Cake:

I made this cake from 60 rolled diapers (secured with rubber bands), the layers are held together with cake dowels.

I wrapped the baby blanket around the bottom and secured with straight pins (with colored balls on the ends so they are easy to remove).

I used ribbon and pre-made bows to decorate it and secured the ribbon by using glue dots (only on the ribbon, no glue dots on the diaper)

The bunny on top is secured using the straight pins. The base is a cardboard cake round covered in Fanci-Foil. Included with the diapers is Desitin, a bottle of California baby shampoo/bodywash & a bottle of california baby lotion.

I have a diaper cake business and this cake was ordered by one of our good friends for her daughter-in-law.

It was so much fun to make (which is why I went into this business!) and even more special to be making it for a dear friend!

Pink & Lime Sorbet Diaper Cake

(Yuma, AZ)

Pink & Lime Sorbet Diaper Cake

Pink & Lime Sorbet Diaper Cake

I started with the bottom tier. I wrapped each diaper individually with rubber bands. I made a circle of diapers around a lotion bottle. I put a rubber band around the outside of the layer. Then repeated the same steps for a second and third layer to complete the bottom tier.

For the second tier I continued to wrap the first layer around the lotion bottle for the first tier. This time repeating the steps only two times.

With the space remaining in the second tier I added a 6oz baby bottle and wrapped the diapers around that. For a topper I hot glued another bottle to the top tiers.

I covered all the rubber bands with streamer paper before the ribbon (to hide the rubber bands).

I used the ribbon for the tiers. It was too thin so I hot glued two pieces together and added a more decorative piece for the middle of all the tiers.

I added paper confetti and little decorations along with the miniature baby items. I added flowers for the topper. It was a hit and fun to make...This was my first one! The doll shoes just added a girly touch..

I made a traditional cake using pampers size 1 diapers. I rolled up the diapers and and used product in the middle such as baby powder and shampoo.

I wrapped a baby towel around the bottom layer and used baby clothing to decorate around covering he diapers.

After the cake was complete I added accent decorations such as a crystallized pacifier and hair brush, butterfly, ribbon, and my signature letter of the baby’s name.

I placed the final product on top of a baby box I found at a local department store where more baby clothing was displayed.

This is a 3 tier Pink and Brown diaper cake...I used 100 diapers, about 20 rubber bands, some decorative drawer liner to set the cake on, and to match theme. I used 3 long wooden skewers to keep it together, thick pink and brown ribbon. This took me probably 2 hours to make and it turned out wonderful!

Pink & Purple Baby Girl Diaper Cake

(Kearney, MO)

Pink & Purple Baby Girl Diaper Cake

Pink & Purple Baby Girl Diaper Cake

Pink & Purple Baby Girl Diaper Cake

This is a diaper cake I made for the daughter of a friend who was expecting her second baby, a little girl! I tried to keep everything for the cake either pink or purple. I used the following:

16" cardboard cake round
16" white paper doily
120-140 Pamper's Swaddlers Size 1 diapers
120-140 clear hair bands
Ribbon (I used 3 different widths)
large container of baby powder
4oz plastic bottle filled with Starburst
2 rattles
1 ring toy
1 teether
1 musical crib toy
comb & brush set
3 caps
2 pacifiers & clip
6 pair socks
6 onesies
2 pair shoes
approximately 12 clip hair bows
3 premade bows for the front

Use the cardboard circle topped with the paper doily as a base. All diapers were rolled and secured with the clear hair bands.

Place powder in center of base and circle it with rows of diapers...I used yarn to cinch each circle of diapers snug as I went.

I also rolled the onesies the same size as the diapers and used them in the place of diapers throughout the tiers. Make second tier of the cake the same way, just not as big in circumference.

For the third tier I placed the plastic baby bottle in the middle (filled with Starburst for mom). I had to place the nipple to the inside of the bottle and remove the bottle cap.

When the base cake is completed use the ribbon of your choice (I used 3 different ribbons in different widths) to encircle each tier, and secure with hot glue, making sure not to get any hot glue on the diapers.

When that is finished just decorate with all the baby items. I used small bows made out of my smallest ribbon used on the cake, and straight pins with round glass/plastic heads to secure the items to the cake, and of course the little hair bows were just clipped to the ribbon around the tiers.

I placed the musical crib toy and one of the rattles as a topper, and placed the 3 purchased bows down the front of the cake. The mother to be loved it!

I rolled each diaper as tight as I could and put a small hair rubber band around each one to hold it. I stuffed them into a 6, 8, and 10 inch cake pan as tight as I could. I then tied a string around the entire "cake" layer to hold the layer together. I carefully slid the layers out of the pans. I used onsies to cover the cake, taping them underneath each layer to hod them tight and smooth. I used scrap booking stickers to place randomly around the layers and satin bows with wires to wrap around each layer in alternating prints and colors. I topped it with a baby themed music box.

Pink Bunny Diaper Cake

by Jill Salyer
(Nickelsville, VA)

Pink Bunny Diaper Cake

Pink Bunny Diaper Cake

This is a pink diaper cake that I made for my niece, who is expecting a baby, and her name will be Destini.

First I covered a cake board with pink tissue paper. The diaper cake is made with 100 Huggies size 1 diapers.

I rolled them up and secured them with ribbons, I then formed the cake into four tiers. I used dowel rods for support.

When I put the layers on top of each other I used double sided tape for extra support.

I wrapped wide pink ribbon around each layer and tied it tightly. On the very top layer there is a bottle in the middle of the diapers and I put a piece of double sided tape on it to secure the bunny blankie.

I added all kinds of things to the diaper cake. For instance, I added bibs, wash cloths, rattles, lotion, powder, headbands, shampoo, spoons, a medicine dropper, teethers, and Desitin, etc.

Around one of the layers I wrapped a receiving blanket. On the cake board around the bottom of the diaper cake, I used used the double sided tape to secure a rubber ducky, baby shoes, wipes and another rattle. This went well since it was the first diaper cake I have ever made.

Pink & Brown Polk-a-dot Diaper Cake

by Holley
(Steele, MO, USA)

Wording for a twin baby shower cake

Wording for a twin baby shower cake

Wording for a twin baby shower cake

This is a three tier diaper cake. I used 75 size 1 diapers. After rolling all diapers, front to back and securing with a rubber band, I began forming the bottom tier around a bottle of baby lotion. I secured all diapers with a large rubberband. I continued this for the middle layer also. The top layer, I placed 8-9 diapers together and secured with a rubber band. I then placed a dowel rod through the entire cake, to give it extra stability.

I decorated the cake with a thick pink ribbon to cover up the rubber bands and then I placed a smaller brown polka-dot ribbon on that. I secured with a small amount of hot glue. However, I did not put it on any diapers. They are all usable. I made bows and placed on the ribbon to cover up the seams. I used a larger Gerber daisy & green ivy as my topper. VOILA! There you have it. This project took approximately 2 hours (this does include rolling all the diapers). I enjoyed taking the time to do this project and can't wait to use it for the baby shower that I am giving my sister this weekend!

Pink Polka Dot Diaper Cake

Pink Polka Dot Diaper Cake

Pink Polka Dot Diaper Cake

Pink Polka Dot Diaper Cake

Made for my friend who had a preemie
Supplies:
-100 preemie diaper
-6 large rubber bands
-1.5 yards of ribbon (any color)
-1 Baby bottle
-1 Baby blanket/ or Baby wipes

Step one:
I started with the middle layer by taking the diapers one by one and wrapping them around the bottom of the bottle. I used a rubber band to hold them in place and kept adding till it was as wide as I wanted. I then did the same thing around the top of the bottle. Making it about an inch smaller on all sides than the middle layer.

Step two:
I used a baby blanket as the center for my bottom layer (Ive been told the baby wipe work well too). I used 3 large rubber bands to keep the baby blanket in a tight block shape. I then wrapped diapers around the sides using a rubber band to hold it in place (Used my husband as an extra set of hands). I then made it wide enough to have about 2 inches wider on all sides of the middle layer.

Step three:
I then stacked the top two layers on the bottom layer.
I the wrapped ribbon around each layer to hide the rubber bands. I used safety pins on the inside of a few of the diapers to hold the ribbon in place.
I added a Rubber Duck to the very top, holding it in place with 4 baby spoons.
I placed silk flower around the sides and found a stuffed animal to attach to the side
I also place some coupons for diapers and formula in between the layers of diapers.

It took me about an hour from start to finish. I had a blast doing it and Mommy loved it!

Pink Pop Tiger Blanket Diaper Cake

by Terra Moore
(Garland, Texas)

Pink Pop Tiger Blanket Diaper Cake

Pink Pop Tiger Blanket Diaper Cake

Pink Pop Tiger Blanket Diaper Cake Instructions

Each tier of this diaper cake is wrapped in a pressed Amy Coe receiving blanket and then tied off around the diapers with layers of coordinating ribbons.

Ty Pluffie Tiger Cat is situated on top with hidden rubber band, so it doesn't fall off when moved.

Crisp hand tied bows, crinkle paper and 3D floral sticker embellishments were added for decoration.

Johnson's products were tied off with coordinating bows and placed along sides and backside as to not interfere with design elements.

Ingredients:
65-70 premium brand Pampers Swaddlers Diapers (size 1)
3 – Amy Coe Pink Pop Flannel Receiving Blankets
1 – Ty Baby Growlers Pink the Tiger Cat Pluffie
1 - Johnson’s Baby Powder (1.5 oz.)
1 - Johnson’s Baby Lotion (1 oz.)
1 - Johnson’s Baby Shampoo (1.5 oz.)
1 - Johnson’s Baby Wash (1 oz.)
1 - Soothing Naturals Lotion Sample
Lots of cute floral embellishments and high quality ribbons

With all its vibrant colors and interesting patterns, this diaper cake was a lot of fun to make.

I didn't use any glue, tape, staples, adhesives or pins on the diapers, so they're all completely usable.

I layered the diapers in different sized baking pans and then used 1 large rubber band per tier to hold them in place.

The tiers slide down onto a support tube attached to the cakeboard, so all the layers stay in place and no assembly is required.

The Amy Coe blankets come as a set, so it was easy to design and layer color combinations.

The original version took me about 4 hours to complete, but I'm a perfectionist at heart. =D

Enjoy!

I used 46 stage 1 diapers, ribbon, Easter grass, tin bucket, flowers, scrapbook stickers, craft bees and of course love!

I used a paper plate as my base and a Styrofoam floral block and wooden skewer for the 2 top tiers. Then I used glitter puff paint to write the baby's name on the bucket.

It took about 2 hours. This is for a young mom and thought she would love black and pink. It was my first diaper cake and I had so much fun making it!

Pretty Pink & Green Diaper Cake

Pretty Pink & Green Diaper Cake

Pretty Pink & Green Diaper Cake

I made this diaper cake with size 1 Pampers Swaddlers diapers. I bought a 92 ct box but did not use all of the diapers. I will give my friend the remaining diapers along with her present so she'll have the complete box. The middle is supported with a 12 inch plastic cake dowel.Three diapers are wrapped (jelly roll style) around the top-middle-bottom sections of the dowel and secured with rubber bands.

The remaining diapers are also rolled up and secured with rubber bands (each). I started by building the bottom layer first. Each row of diapers is secured with white ribbon to hold them together. Once I constructed a 3 tiered cake, I stuffed 4 receiving blankets into the top tier and secured them w/ ribbon for a more snug- fit look. I decorated ear tier with ribbon and used a little lamb as a cake topper. The paws of the lamb are pinned into the blankets as are the hand made bows. I used scrapbooking materials to display baby's name. This cake was so much fun to make!
