Red Diaper Cake

Dixie Jean's Red Diaper Cake!

You will need:

Two packages of Pampers Swaddlers diapers, a total of 176 diapers.

Start from the bottom and work your way to the top rolling the diapers and securing them with a rubber band.

Use as many as you want on each level to your desire, and continue working your way to the top.

I chose to make a five tier cake for a centerpiece on the main table and it looked fabulous!

I bought several different ribbons, colors that we used in her nursery to accent the cake.

Just wrap the ribbon around the diapers and secure with a pin in the back of the cake.

I used red roses to accent the top and the rose stem just went right between the diaper and stays secure so there is not any hot glue and the diapers can be used and the ribbons can be used to make bows for the baby's hair.

I sat the cake on a piece of foam core that I cut into a circle to set the cake on.

This red diaper cake has been used for two showers since I made it! It was very popular!!!

Dixie Jean's Red Diaper Cake

Heather you did a wonderful job decorating for Dixie Jean's baby shower. The Red Diaper Cake was beautiful and it just added so much color to the room. We didn't have a lot to work with since the room at City Hall was so big and the walls did not have our baby color theme. Your amazing talent brighten the room up and the good thing about the diaper cake, Dixie Jean will have plenty of diapers to use when she arrives.
I enjoyed helping you with the shower. Maybe some of your talent will rub off on me.

Critique of Heather's Dixie Jean's Red Diaper Cake design

As an active Art Instructor and I rate this creation 5 STARS!!! Heather did a fabulous job in her cake design! The cake visually "pops" by her choice of color schemes! She used greens & reds (complementary colors) to achieve eye-catching contrast! The added pink "tint" enhances! The black & white dotted ribbon adds an extra "zing" that screams "fun"!!! The solid white areas seem to be strategically placed to give the eye a resting place and add emphasis to the red roses. The roses that Heather added created the perfect touch, giving the work a third dimension which just topped off the aesthetic quality! Heather's cake is a contemporary hit!!! She used all of the elements & principles of design to achieve a great work of art!!! Rhythm, movement, emphasis,contrast, pattern, balance & unity are all there!!!
Way to go Heather!!! Job well done! A+ : )
