Rubber Duckie You're The One Cake
This cake started out as (2) 10 inch square cakes and 2 cakes baked in a 5 inch round Pyrex bowl.
I stacked the squares and carved it to the shape of a rubber duckie. Then I stacked the 2 bowl cakes so they made the head.
This head was sitting on its own foam board so that it could be stacked on top of the body.
After I had the basic shape, I colored 5 lbs of fondant Yellow and covered both the body and head (separately))of course).
Then I colored some gum paste orange and molded the duck's bill. I made the bow on top of her head out of gum paste as well.
Let these dry before attaching. Next, I inserted the dowels in the body so that they would support the head. After stacking the head on top of the body, I added the bill, eyes, hair, and bow.
I carved the "bubbles" out of cupcakes, and covered them with fondant. The bar of soap was done the same way.
To complete the look, I cut a piece of foam core to sit inside of the green washtub and put the cake on top. The "water" is butter cream icing tinted blue and just iced on.
