Tiny Treasures Monkey Cake For this hat box filled with baby goodies, I baked a 10" layer cake,iced it with buttercream and covered it wtih pastel yellow fondant. For the lid, I used a cardboard cake circle. It is covered with fondant. This is tricky, I rolled out a circle of fondant and laid the cardboard circle on top so I could trim the fondant an 1 1/2" bigger than the cardboard.  special deal for our readers! I piped some icing around the edge of the cardboard so I could fold over the excess fondant and attach it. This step you do last because you need to put the lid on right away.
