Whimsical Bye Bye Belly Cake
I made this whimsical Mod Mom Bye Bye Belly cake with different shades of pink fondant to celebrate the new little girl on her way.
There are several different ways to make your cake tiers whimsical. I just baked my layers extra tall and then carved them into the whimsical formation.
The "expectant mother" on top with the sign is made of fondant, although modeling chocolate or gumpaste would also work. The curls and swirls coming out of the cake are also fondant.
The flowers were made with royal icing that I piped onto wax paper. (The mom, curls/swirls, and flowers should all be made at least a week in advance so they have time to harden.)
I also like to make extra flowers as well as swirls and curls because they are so fragile.
The little presents on top were made with scrap book paper. Everything else used to decorate the cake was either fondant or royal icing.
