For this Diaper Bassinet Cake I used approx. 80 newborn diapers, a gift box, bendable wiring, lace, tulle, ribbon, glue gun to secure the ribbon and lace, no glue touched the diapers.

1 package of diapers -about 50 of the 8-14 lbs for the inside ($6.00)

1 -$2 receiving blanket from Wally World

2 - larger, thicker receiving blankets for the outside (got a pack of 4 at Walmart for $7)

2 rolls of ribbon $1.49 x 2 $3.00

1 package of safety pins $1.49

Rubber bands

a piece of cardboard

I took pics of the steps, don't know if they'll post or just the almost finished.

Will write up the steps/pics step by step. I see a couple things I'd do different but this was a quicky because the shower is Sunday, a friend that is having twin boys so I'll stick some little toys in before the shower.

I know everyone is commenting on babyfavorsandgifts.com and the fact that they post their pictures, but NEVER give out their instructions! I just want give you all some advice...if you have any experience making various types of diaper cakes, then if you have the time, stare at their picture and envision how you might put it together...if you do that, you will certainly be able to figure it out! I have already made the choo choo train cake, as well as the bassinet, and they were farely SIMPLE!

WINNER OF OUR CUTEST CAKE CONTEST!

I made this shabby chic bassinet diaper cake for my cousin. I had no clue what to do for a shabby chic theme, so this is what I came up with. I had the chenille bunny, blanket and pillow made for this diaper cake. I really love how it turned out. I made the hood from brass rings I bent into form and lace to cover it.

How To Make A Diaper Bassinet


(this is a great video giving you step-by-step diaper stroller and bassinet instructions) - If you want it to look like a baby carriage/stroller, add the wheels to the bottom. If you are looking to make a baby bassinet, leave them off. Good luck and enjoy!

I cheated a little for the "bed" I used a small package of diapers and used a container of wipes for the head board. Used a crib sheet to cover the "bed" and a mattress protector to cover the head board. Everything else I did the same. I love it thanks!

I really don't have instructions, I just threw this together.

I did use:
2 brass rings(large) and broke them at the seam and bent them to make the hood. I attached them together with heavy duty tape. So one was the actual hood and one was the bottom support. Covered them with lace material and added lace trim to the edge.

2 pkgs. size 2 diapers, all rolled and rubberbanded with goody clear rubberbands. except for the bottom lay middle I stacked them flat and put a low cut box on top to put the blanket and bunny in. The surrounded the box with rolled diapers and added trim to the top using glue dots, so not to ruin diapers. Then added ribbon to hide the large rubberband holding the shape of the bassinet.

I hope this helps. I usually just go off the top of my head and hope it turns out.
