Baby shower poems are one of my favorite parts of planning a shower - they turn a plain invitation into something guests actually save, and they give the whole celebration a personal, heartfelt touch. After 21 years of helping people plan baby showers, I've collected the best poems and wording ideas for every situation: invitations, cakes, thank you cards, sprinkles, twin showers, and more. This is your one-stop page for all of it.

A baby shower poem is a short verse or saying that adds a warm, personal touch to your celebration. You can use poems on invitations to set the tone, on the cake as a sweet saying, on favor tags as a little note of thanks, in scrapbooks and baby books, or printed and framed as nursery decor. They don't have to be long or fancy - even a two-line rhyme can make guests smile and feel the love behind the event.
Below you'll find poems and wording ideas for every part of the shower, organized by category so you can find exactly what you need quickly.
The invitation is the first impression guests get of your shower - a little poem goes a long way toward building excitement. Here are some of my favorites, ranging from sweet and simple to fun and rhyming.
Ten little fingers, ten little toes,
a toothless smile and a button nose.
Shining eyes and curling hair -
a precious baby beyond compare.
Please join us to celebrate before baby is due,
we just cannot wait to see all of you!
A giggle, a curl, a sweet baby girl!
Come help us celebrate the newest addition
and shower her mama with love and tradition!
Planes and trucks and all kinds of toys -
our mommy-to-be is expecting a boy!
Come help us celebrate before the big day
and shower this mama-to-be in the sweetest way!
A baby is coming, in just a short while!
Help us shower the mother-to-be
with blessings and a smile.
If a gift you wish to bring
but are in need of a clue,
just check the registry below
and it will guide you!
Pins, diapers, bottles galore -
[Mom] and [Dad] are having one more!
Big [brother/sister] has plenty to share,
this is only a sprinkle to show that we care.
Please join us to celebrate before baby is due -
we still do not know if it will be pink or blue!
Nine month forecast: a shower -
followed by a sunny baby!
Join us to celebrate [Mom's name]
on [date] at [time].
Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how we wonder who you are!
A little girl or little boy,
you're sure to bring a lot of joy!
Please join us as we celebrate
this tiny star before their big arrival date!
We think babies are so much fun -
we decided to have another one!
Come help us celebrate and don't be late,
this little one can't wait!
Print your poem on coordinating card stock and tuck it inside the envelope as an insert - or add it as the last section of your invitation. Keep the poem at the bottom so party details (date, time, location, RSVP) are still the first thing guests see.
Baby shower cake sayings should be short, sweet, and easy for a baker to write. Here are the ones that look best on cakes - from one-liners to short two-line verses.
If your poem is a little long for the cake, print it on pretty card stock and attach it to a wooden skewer poked into the top tier. It looks adorable and solves the space problem instantly!
She's About To Pop!
Little hands and little feet,
[Baby's name] is oh so sweet!
Tiny hands, button nose,
chubby cheeks and little toes.
Hello, [Baby's name]!
Hello baby, goodbye sleep!
The time is near - [Baby's name] is almost here!
Princess in progress!
Oh joy, it's a boy!
A baby is the most beautiful miracle in life!
She prayed a prayer from deep in her heart,
God said "yes!" and now the fun starts!
Diaper and pins, a new life begins!
She'll soon be here for us to love,
a precious baby girl from Heaven above!
Writing thank you cards after the shower can feel overwhelming when you're exhausted and running on new-mama energy. These short verses make it easy - just copy one onto your cards and personalize with the guest's name and gift. Done!
I haven't arrived just yet,
but Mommy wanted me to say -
thank you so much for the lovely gift
and for sharing in our special day!
Love, [Baby's name]
Thank you for celebrating with us
and for your thoughtful gift.
We can't wait to introduce you
to our newest little blessing!
With love, [Mom and Dad's names]
Your kindness means more than words can say.
Thank you for making our shower
such a beautiful, memorable day.
With so much love and gratitude,
[Mom's name]
They say it takes a village to raise a child -
we're so glad you're in ours!
Thank you for everything.
[Family name]
Thank you for the wonderful gift
and for sharing this exciting time with us.
Baby [name] is going to be so loved!
Thank you for opening your home
and your heart to celebrate our little one.
You made this day more special
than we ever could have imagined.
With so much love and appreciation,
[Mom's name]
These are the poems people print out, frame, and keep for years. They're beautiful for table decor at the shower, for the baby's nursery, or tucked into a scrapbook.
A baby is cuddles and tickles on toes,
the sweet scent of powder, a kiss on the nose.
A baby is teddy bears, rattles, and pins,
meals at midnight, giggles, and grins.
A baby is hope and a brand new start -
a baby is love straight from the heart.
An angel sent from Heaven above,
let's shower [him/her] with all our love.
Ten little fingers, ten little toes -
you'll love your sweet baby
the more that [he/she] grows.
Little one, before you came along,
we never knew our hearts could hold
so much love for someone
we hadn't even met yet.
Welcome to our world.
We've been waiting for you.
Precious moments are far and few,
but God is about to bless us
in a way we never knew.
What a gift, what a treasure,
what a joy beyond all measure.
Once there were two,
soon it will be three.
Please join us to shower
with love [Mom] and [Dad's]
new little baby!
Not every shower has to be quiet and sentimental! Sometimes you need something that makes the room laugh. These are great for invitation inserts, cake sayings, or reading aloud as part of the program.
Hello baby, goodbye sleep!
We missed number one.
We missed number two.
Three strikes and we're out -
so we're counting on you!
Ten toes up, ten toes down -
that's what you get for fooling around!
Tiny hands, little feet - hello baby, goodbye sleep!
Ships ahoy, it's a boy!
Batten down the hatches -
life is about to get really, really fun.
Bottles, diapers, laundry in a heap -
[Mom's name]'s having a baby
and will soon be without sleep!
A baby sprinkle is a smaller, more casual shower - usually for a second or third baby when the family already has the big items. The invite wording needs to gently let guests know they don't need to go all-out with gifts, without making anyone feel awkward. These verses do that perfectly.
Instead of a shower, we forecast a sprinkle -
let's gather together and celebrate this little wrinkle!
No need for the big gifts, just come and share the love,
as we welcome this baby from heaven above.
This is only a sprinkle to show that we care!
Big [brother/sister] [name] has plenty to share.
Please join us to celebrate before baby is due -
we just cannot wait to see all of you!
A little rain never hurt anyone -
and [Mom's name] is about to have another one!
Join us for a sprinkle, light and fun,
to celebrate this new little one!
We have the crib and we have the stroller,
but diapers and wipes would make life a whole lot smoother!
Come celebrate - your presence is the greatest gift of all.
Planning a twin shower is so much fun - and the invitation poems are a great way to play on the double theme right from the start.
Double the giggles, double the grins,
double the trouble when [Mom] has twins!
Please join us to shower her with love,
and celebrate two little blessings from above!
Ribbons and bows, giggles and grins -
the mommy-to-be is expecting girl twins!
Come celebrate double the sweetness!
More diapers, more pins - she's having twins!
Double the love, double the fun -
[Mom's name] is getting not one, but two!
Two by two, so much fun -
yep, [Mom's name] is having two, not one!
Come help us celebrate this double blessing
before the big arrival!
Double the mouths to feed,
double the love we'll share.
Two precious gifts from God above -
two answers to a prayer.
Join us to celebrate [Mom's name]
and her two little miracles!
Book baby showers are so popular right now - guests bring a favorite children's book instead of (or in addition to) a card. Here's how to word that on the invite in a way that's clear and cute.
Instead of a card, please bring a book
for [Baby's name]'s very own library nook!
Sign your name and write a little note -
a gift that's treasured more than you'd ever quote!
Skip the card, bring a book instead -
something sweet that can be read!
Write a message on the inside page
and help build [Baby's name]'s library from any age!
[Baby's name] is on the way
and needs a book for every day!
In lieu of a card, please bring a book -
one you love and think [he/she] should look!
In lieu of a card, we ask that you bring
your favorite children's book.
Write a note inside and sign your name
so baby always knows where it came from!
4 to 8 lines is the sweet spot for invitation poems. Anything longer and guests tend to skip it. Save the longer, sentimental verses for framed prints or scrapbooks.
Print sentimental poems on card stock, pop them in a simple frame, and use them as table centerpieces. They double as decor during the shower and as a keepsake for the mom-to-be afterward.
Any poem becomes 10 times more special when you swap in the baby's name, the mom's name, or the due date. Even a simple two-line verse feels custom and thoughtful with that one little change.
A rustic woodland shower calls for something warm and nature-inspired. A glam pink shower can pull off something playful and rhyming. A boho shower suits something simple and heartfelt. Let the theme guide your verse choice and everything will feel cohesive.
A good baby shower invitation poem is short (4-8 lines), warm, and matches the tone of the shower. Classic options include "Ten little fingers, ten little toes" for a sweet, timeless feel, or "Nine month forecast: a shower - followed by a sunny baby!" for something short and modern. Always place the poem after the party details so guests see the date and time first.
Short sayings work best on cakes. Popular options include "She's About To Pop!", "Hello Baby, Goodbye Sleep!", "Little Hands and Little Feet," and "Princess in Progress!" If your verse is too long to pipe onto the cake, print it on card stock and attach it to a wooden skewer as a cake topper instead.
Start with a warm opening, mention the specific gift, and close with something personal about looking forward to the baby's arrival. A simple structure: "Thank you so much for the [gift]. It was so thoughtful and we know baby [name] is going to love it. We are so grateful to have you celebrating this exciting time with us." Writing them within 2-3 weeks of the shower is ideal.
A baby shower sprinkle poem is invitation wording that lets guests know the event is a smaller, more casual celebration - usually for a second or third baby. The poem gently communicates that big gifts aren't expected, while still making guests feel excited to attend and celebrate. A classic example: "Instead of a shower, we forecast a sprinkle!"
Absolutely - this is one of my favorite ideas! Print a sentimental poem in a pretty font on card stock or art paper, pop it in a simple frame, and it becomes a meaningful piece of nursery wall art. It's especially sweet if you choose a poem that was used at the baby shower, so the decor carries a memory of that day.
A book baby shower is a party where guests are asked to bring a favorite children's book instead of (or in addition to) a card. Guests write a personal message inside the cover, and the collection becomes the start of the baby's library. The invitation includes a verse letting guests know to bring a book - see the wording ideas in the section above!
